Bonnie Parke-Goodman, a fabulous flame-working glass artist and her little feathered friend Desmond sat patiently for this painting to be possible. There were ten sessions, of which Desmond only showed up for three. And he kept walking up Bonnie's arm. And squawking aggressively whenever the artist came near. Still, he loved Bonnie, as exhibited by his puffed-out neck feathers.

Soon after this painting was completed, Bonnie married artist Parke Goodman, and the African Gray parrot promptly threw over Bonnie for Parke! It seems that African Grays only have room in their heart for one human, and Desmond is fickle. Still, he can sound just like Bonnie's cat Moses or her answering machine, so there's always great entertainment around Bonnie and co.

Bonnie is very much involved in spay-neuter programs, and helps organize a sci-fi parade as a fundraiser each year. The artists and their assorted pets make their home in Livingston, Montana. Their gallery, Mordam Art, is a popular stop for art-loving travelers. Parke's beautiful landscapes of the Montana wilderness have won raves from collectors.
