Joseph Abboud, world-renowned designer of elegant menswear and of his own stunning gardens and home, is a fan and patron of Suzy Hart's work. Mr. Abboud won the Menswear Designer of the Year award from Council of Fashion Designers of America Award in1989 and1990.
Ever creative and supportive of creative artists, Mr. Abboud commissioned Hart to paint a portrait of the designer, weaving a Pre-Raphaelite style with elements from Abboud's home, including an armillary and stone sculpture, as well as a Persian carpet in his collection, reflecting his Lebanese Christian roots. At his suggestion, the artist painted a series for him of portraits painted directly on fine herringbone fabric.
